ping and traceroute

  • ping test the round trip time of network packet.
  • TTL is the maximum hops allowed.
    • TTL = Time to Live
    • TTL value is the number from response packet.
    • use traceroute to check the hops on the path.
    • use tracert on windows system.

round trip time:

  • server to server: 0.1ms
  • client to server: 200ms
